WATCH: Conor McGregor is really enjoying making weight

Many MMA fans were shocked at last week’s announcement that Conor McGregor would take on his next opponent at 170 pounds, but it looks like the fighter himself is loving his new regime.

McGregor became UFC Featherweight champion just three months ago, when he knocked Jose Aldo out in December.

The Crumlin fighter decided he wanted to try and become a champion in two weight classes simultaneously and a lightweight title fight was scheduled for this Saturday.

But when lightweight champ Rafael Dos Anjos had to pull out with a broken foot, McGregor agreed to fight Nate Diaz instead, at welterweight.

That means an increase of 25lbs from his 145lb December fighting weight.

Many wondered if it would be possible for the Dubliner to hit the weight, but the most recent episode of UFC 196 Embedded should put those concerns to rest.

“I’ve so much energy, I’m on weight right now,” McGregor said. “I’ve had two breakfasts, I feel really good.”

The clip shows him looking strong and healthy and thoroughly enjoying his food!

“It’s nice when you can put some food in your belly and go move,” he explains.

McGregor appears comfortable with his new, bulkier frame - in sharp contrast to pictures of him at weigh-ins for featherweight fights.

Fans who worried about his gaunt appearance at the time will be delighted with his new buff look.

Watch out Nate Diaz - looks like Conor is primed and ready for battle.
