VIDEO: Decathlete pulls his daughter’s tooth out with a javelin

Olympic gold medallist Bryan Clay has come up with a novel approach to dentistry - using his javelin throwing skills to remove his daughter’s tooth.

The Texan athlete, who won gold for the USA in the Beijing Olympics, tied dental floss around his daughter’s loose tooth and attached the string of floss to his javelin.

He posted a video of the tooth removal on Twitter, captioning it: “What you use javelins for once you're retired.”

Unsurprisingly, the video has gone viral and Clay was interviewed by rt.com.

“It’s just kind of a tradition we have done since we were kids,” he said.

“I pulled my teeth out by tying the floss to the door handle and my wife has done things like that.”

He also reassured people that his daughter was the one pushing for him to do it and he had researched beforehand to ensure he wouldn’t hurt her.

“My daughter nagged me and nagged me for a whole day (to do it)," Clay said.

Regardless of what some critics have said, he and his daughter are both pleased with the outcome.

“When you do things like that, people can always take it the wrong way," he acknowledged.

"It has been absolutely amazing and it was worth it.”
