PICS: Paul O’Connell leads charge on litter in Limerick

Paul O’Connell is taking on on a very different opponent in Limerick today - part of a team tackling litter throughout the city and county.

Team Limerick Clean-up (TLC) is a one-day organised project, to get communities out to clean up their areas.

Paul O'Connell, Irish Captain and Limerick man, says he did not hesitate to get involved.

"I do enjoy doing stuff for Limerick - it's easy for me, I grew up here, I'd love to stay living here, I'd love if Paddy stayed living here when he grows up" he said.

"Loaning my...image to a campaign like this to try and make it more successful is something I've enjoyed doing."

He is just one of a host of sporting names taking part in the campaign. Jockey Tony McCoy and the Limerick senior hurling and football team are also out helping - as is local businessman and benefactor JP McManus.

Paulie’s Munster team-mate CJ Stander also donned his hi-vis jacket to lend a hand.

What a fantastic idea - a huge well done to everyone involved.
