Cricket commentator horrified when ball dents his car

“That’s my car, oh no! It’s a rental, I don’t believe it!”

Ian Smith, a New Zealand cricket commentator, was distracted from his commentary of a Twenty20 match when he thought his car had been hit by the cricket ball.

Jesse Ryder knocked the ball out of the grounds for a six and cameras picked it up hitting a car parked outside and leaving a deep dent in the roof.

“That’s out of the ground, it’s gone, it’s downtown,” he roared in appreciation of Ryder’s huge strike, but his tone soon changed.

“It’s on my car, it is!” he shouted. “Oh no, I don’t believe it, the downside of getting a park so close.”

His clearly amused co-commentator asked was his insurance up-to-date and Smith told him:

“No, it’s a rental!”

By the end of the clip he had started to change his mind about it being his car, but it made for a highly entertaining minute or two of commentary.
