Defeat for Ireland as Sri Lanka take honours

Ireland have suffered a 79-run defeat to Sri Lanka in the first of this week's One Day Internationals in Clontarf.
After an impressive bowling performance helped limit their guests to a total of 219 runs for their innings, Ireland were handed a target of 220 runs to win the game.
But a third wicket stand between William Porterfield and Niall O'Brien is the only decent partnership that Ireland's batsmen were able to establish during their run chase.
Porterfield top-scored with 37 runs as the likes of Ed Joyce, Kevin O'Brien, Paul Stirling and Gary Wilson all lost their wickets cheaply.
Tim Murtagh was the last Irish player to go when the fast-bowler was trapped LBW for 10 runs as Ireland were bowled-out for 140.
