Letterkenny man English qualified for the World Indoor championships after setting a new national indoor record of 1:46:82 in Athlone I.T earlier this month.

English, a medical student in UCD, surprisingly crashed out of the World Outdoor championship last summer in the first round.

Irish 800 meter outdoor record holder Rose Anne Galligan is going too having finished behind Everard in Prague last night in 2:04:12.

City of Lisburn athlete Amy Foster has decided not to compete in Sopot having gained the qualifying standard two weeks ago.
