Another top-10 finish for Ireland in Belgrade

Paul Robinson finished in ninth position in the U-23 Men’s European Cross Country Championship.

A brave performance from Robinson saw Ireland finish in fourth place overall, having held the bronze medal position for until the final lap.

“I’m delighted with that run” Robinson said afterwards. “I battled hard over the last lap to get through it”.

“The crowd were roaring at me that we were third” Robinson admitted. “unfortunately Shane Quinn went into the hurt zone just then, I tried to cheer him on, but there’s no way out of that zone.”

The Irish team of Robinson (ninth), John Travers (32nd), Kevin Dooney (38th) and Shane Quinn (41st) finished fourth behind winners Great Britain, Ukraine took silver and France took bronze.
