Disappointing start for Ireland at Cross Country Championships

There was a lacklustre start for Ireland at today's European Cross Country Championships.

Siofra Cleirigh Buttner was first of the Irish home in 37th position, followed by Amy O’Donoghue in 58th, Megan Ryan 69th and Isabelle Odlum 78th.

Ireland finished in 13th position behind winner Great Britain. Silver medals went to Sweden and German took bronze.

The two non-scoring medals of the Irish team were Catherina McCarthy – 98th and Sarah Fitzpatrick 100th.

The junior men's race is underway now.
