Craig through to Olympic kayak slalom semis

Hannah Craig has qualified for the women's kayak slalom Olympic semi-finals today.

Craig significantly improved on her first run this afternoon to move up to 13th place in the standings, with the top 15 qualifying for the semi-finals.

In badminton there was disappointment for Scott Evans, who lost his only group match against world number one, Lin Dan of China, in straight sets, 21-8, 21-14.

Camilla Speirs went into the cross country section as Ireland's highest-ranked rider, but she was eliminated after a bad fall near the end of her run.

Both horse and rider are understood to be uninjured, but it was the second fall of the day for the Irish team, which means the team will be relying on the score of Mark Kyle, who is just about to start.

In the sailing, David O'Leary & Peter Burrows finished in 14th and in fifth place in their third and fourth races in the Star class. They are now in fifth place overall.

The men's 49er duo of Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern are in sixth overall after they finished in fourth and eighth in today's races.

In the men's Laser, James Espey lies in 42nd place overall.
