Gregan denied medal after sustaining injury

Brian Gregan has been denied a potential medal at the European Athletics Championships by a groin strain suffered during his 400m final.

Gregan battled gamely throughout in third place, despite suffering his injury 80 metres into the Helsinki decider.

The Clonliffe Harriers athlete succumbed in the final 20 metres to finish sixth, in a time of 46.04. Czech Pavel Maslak took gold.
