Magee's London 2012 qualification officially ratified
Ireland's Chloe Magee has officially confirmed her Olympic badminton qualification today.
Magee made the Provisional Olympic list over the weekend in the ladies singles via the BWF Olympic Games Qualification list.
The Irish shuttler, ranked 44 in the world, was 26th on the list from 46 players qualified in ladies singles.
However, Chloe and her brother Sam Magee have been dropped down to third reserve on the Olympic list in spot 19 on the final list for the mixed doubles.
This is despite some great results this season which have the pair ranked at 40 in the world.
Also in contention for Ireland is Scott Evans in the Men’s singles. The world number 67 was in position 37 on the final Olympic list leaving him at first reserve for the games.
Badminton Ireland National Coach Daniel Magee said: "It is great we have three players in contention for Olympic selection. Chloe and Sam have done great in mixed this year but it’s tough qualifying with just 16 pairs.
"Chloe had a great first half of the year and had really done enough in terms of qualification by the Irish Open in December. Scott’s solid performances of late has ensured he has a great chance of selection on the second list in a few week’s time."
