DCU Saints look to cement league position
Basketball's Northern Conference leaders DCU Saints travel to Cork on Sunday to play Bord Gais Neptune in the Nivea for Men’s SuperLeague.
UCC Demons, fresh from their National cup semi-final win over Bord Gais Neptune, will host Belfast Star and the other cup finalists UL Eagles entertain UCD Marian.
11890 Killester will be hoping to erase their cup exit when they travel west to play Moycullen.
In the Nivea Women’s SuperLeague, leaders UL face Liffey Celtics, while there is an interesting Cork derby at the Neptune stadium when Team Montenotte Hotel entertain Singleton’s Supervalu Brunell.
DCU Mercy, who are on the back of their emphatic cup win over 11890 Killester, travel to Waterford for a clash with Wildcats with Ulster Rockets hoping to get back to winning ways when they host Meteors.
There is an interesting Dublin derby at the Oblate Hall Inchicore when Oblate Dynamos go head to head with 11890 Killester.
The big game of the weekend will be the clash between Bord Gais Neptune and DCU Saints.
Neptune will be hoping to get back to winning ways following their cup exit and coach Mark Scannell is looking forward to another stern test for his promising side.
“Saints were too strong for us when we last played them in the SuperLeague and in the end they blitzed us,” said Scannell.
“Players will have to get rid of the cobwebs and get ready for action as Saints are a physical team and its important for us to get back to winning ways.”
For the Saints coach David Donnelly it will be refreshing for his side to get back to playing after a two week break since their last competitive game.
“Playing at Neptune is always a difficult proposition and I am sure they will want to revenge the win we had over them on our home court,” said Donnelly.
“Neptune will also want to get the cup defeat out of their system and we will have to be very focused if we are to get maximum points from this game.”
