Govt allocated €500,000 to sports facilities

The Government has announced funding of almost €500,000 for a number of sports projects around the country.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring confirmed that nine local authority-backed projects would receive the funding.

The money will go towards the development of playing surfaces, outdoor gym equipment and flood-lighting.

Minister Ring said he hoped the new and revamped facilities would encourage more people to take part in sport.
