Swimmer Mary Gavin, from Templeogue in Dublin, took silver in the 100 metre back-crawl today.

She is also competing in the 100 metre freestyle, and the relay.

Peter Oxley from Tyrellspass in Co. Westmeath has won bronze in the men's 100 metre backstroke.

Yesterday, Aisling Beacom from Wicklow Town took bronze in the 800 metre freestyle swim event.

Up to 126 Irish athletes are taking part in 12 different disciplines alongside 7,000 athletes from 180 countries.
