Gay faces Daegu absence

United States sprint star Tyson Gay is set to miss out on the chance to challenge Usain Bolt for the 100 metres title at this year’s World Championships.

Gay pulled out of his semi-final in the event at the US National Championships with a hip injury and is unlikely to feature in the 200m either, meaning he would not be eligible to compete in the sprints at the international event in Daegu, South Korea from August 27 to September 4.
