Hall gunning for Khannouchi record
Ryan Hall plans to attack the eight-year-old American record belonging to Khalid Khannouchi at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 10.
Hall, whose personal best is two hours six minutes 17 seconds, will challenge the mark of 2hrs 5mins 38secs which Khannouchi achieved when setting what was then a world record at the 2002 Flora London Marathon.
“I have been preparing for an attempt to lower the American record since I ran my first marathon in London in 2007, and there is no other US course that could allow me a better opportunity than Chicago,” he said.
Hall, currently preparing for the Boston Marathon on April 19, added: “It’s remarkably flat and fast with a veteran production team that sets a stage for athletes to produce personal and national records, which is my goal.”
