Yelling not planning full return

Hayley Yelling insists her shock victory at yesterday’s European Cross Country Championships in Dublin does not mean she is planning a full-time return to international competition.

Yelling’s success came just a month after coming out of retirement as she thrashed Europe’s top distance stars with a runaway victory in the mud of Santry Park.

However, the 35-year-old, who added a second gold medal to the one she collected five years ago, has no immediate plans of building upon it at a global level.

Yelling said: “I might do a few more races and see how I’m doing but I’m not looking as far as the World Cross or anything.

“I had no expectation at all, I just wanted to enjoy it, I was thinking about the team really.”
