Olympics on target
Sebastian Coe will report to the International Olympic Committee today that London’s preparations for the 2012 Games remain on time and on budget.
Coe, chairman of London 2012, and chief executive Paul Deighton will tell IOC members the schedule is being met without additions to the cost of the Games.
However, the issue of a proposed £40m (€43m) temporary arena for badminton and rhythmic gymnastics remains outstanding, with London mayor Boris Johnson battling for the sports to be moved to an existing venue.
Deighton said: “We still have yet to get lockdown on the two sports who were to have gone into north Greenwich arena 2.”
