Shock as Chicago out of Olympic running

Barack Obama’s decision to fly to Copenhagen to persuade the International Olympic Committee to give the 2016 Games to Chicago ended in disappointment as the US city was knocked out in the first round of voting today.

Tokyo soon followed leaving Rio de Janeiro and Madrid in the running with a decision expected shortly.
