Dunne devastated by title loss
Bernard Dunne has lost his World Super Bantam-weight title after his first defence at the O2 arena last night.
The Dubliner surrendered his WBA regular belt following a third-round knockout by Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym of Thailand.
Dunne started encouragingly, but failed to recover from a knock-down just over two minutes into the third round.
Promoter Brian Peters admitted the loss was disappointing but said Dunne still has a bright future,
"Bernard gets going he becomes champion again he gets a couple of fights who knows what may happen," Peters said.
“Ye know this guy is going to go on a pick up another belt or two. Like after the Kiko Martinez fight would anyone honestly have thought 16 months later Bernard Dunne would be WBA world champion? So he's done it once he can do it again.”
