Katie Taylor won her fourth European title in a row following an 11-0 decision over Turkey's Meryem Aslan Zeybek in today's lightweight final in the Ukraine.

Scores at the end of each of the four rounds (4-0, 7-0, 9-0) (11-0).

Taylor won three bouts to claim gold at the Nadezhda Sports Complex in Nikalaev City.

The Bray lightweight did not concede a single point in the entire tournament, scoring 23 points in the process.

Speaking after today's final, Irish team manager Sadie Duddy said that Taylor boxed superbly, while Taylor's dad and coach Peter and fellow Irish coach Pat Ryan were full or praise for the Leinster lightweight.

Taylor has now won 63 of her last 64 international bouts.

The reigning World and AIBA 2008 World female boxer of the year won her first European title in Norway in 2005 and followed that up with gold medal wins at the European Championships in Poland and Denmark in 2006 and 2007.

Taylor, received a bye into the quarter finals in the Ukraine.

Sinead Kavanagh also performed very well at her first major Championships. The Drimnagh middleweight was edged out 3-2 by Polish fighter Lidia Fidura in the last 16.

The Irish team are due to arrive home from Budapest (Malev airlines) through Dublin Airport tomorrow night at 9pm.
