Delight for O’Rourke in 100m hurdles
Derval O’Rourke put in a great performance this evening to make the final of the 100m Hurdles event at the World Championships in Berlin.
O’Rourke came third in her semi-final in a time of 12.73 seconds to take a place as a fastest runner-up in the final.
She finished behind Australia's Olympic silver medallist Sally McLellan (12.66) and race winner Dawn Harper (12.48), the Olympic champion from America.
The Leevale athlete was just one 100th of a second off her Irish record and will now run in the World Final tonight at 8:15pm Irish time.
Last up for the Irish is Paul Hession in the semi-final of the 200m at 6:25pm tonight.
