Top Irish athletes in action today

Some of Ireland's top athletes will be in action at the World Track and Field Championships in Berlin today, with Paul Hession first out of the blocks in the heats of the 200m at 9:05am (Irish time).

High jumper Deirdre Ryan will begin her bid to qualify at 9:20am, with David Gillick next in action at 10:05am in the 400m heats.

Deirdre Byrne takes part in the 1,500m heats at 11:05am while Derval O’Rourke makes her first appearance in the championships at 5:10pm in the heats of the 100m hurdles.
