Barrichello over German blow out

Brawn GP’s Rubens Barrichello concedes he did not have a race-winning car at his disposal at last weekend’s German Grand Prix and is ready to move on from his astonishing post-race attack on his team.

Despite taking the lead from second on the grid on the run down to the first corner at the Nurburgring, Barrichello faded badly as his car struggled to get temperature into its tyres and the Brazilian came home a frustrated sixth at the chequered flag.

A delayed pit stop also hindered Barrichello’s charge, and afterwards the 37-year-old accused his team of putting on a good show of “how to lose a race”.

He added: “I’m terribly upset with the way things have gone. I did all I had to do. I went first on the first corner, and then they made me lose the race.

“If it is really what’s going on, we’re going to end up losing both championships. I feel sorry for myself.”

Writing on Twitter yesterday, Barrichello admitted his team had since proved to him that his car did not have the pace to battle with the Red Bulls of race winner Mark Webber and second-placed man Sebastian Vettel.

“I was very upset yesterday but I am over it,” Barrichello wrote.

“I would not have won the race as the Red Bulls were half a second faster per lap, but third was very possible without the pit problems.

“It was a tough day yesterday but I am over it now.”
