British boxer takes European title

Luke Campbell was crowned England’s first European amateur champion for 47 years after a nail-biting countback victory over experienced Bulgarian Detelin Dalakliev in Liverpool tonight.

The Hull 21-year-old boxed a superb counter-attacking fight to repel the former world and European medallist but was forced to wait for the verdict after Dalakliev equalled the score at 5-5 with two seconds left.
