Irish duo fail to progress in European Championships

Ireland lightweight boxer Ross Hickey has had to settle for a bronze medal after losing to tough Belarusian Vazgen Safaryants at the European Amateur Boxing Championships in Liverpool tonight.

Hickey was beaten 9-3 while team-mate John Joe Joyce was an 8-2 loser to Hungary’s Gyula Kate.
