Three Irish boxers in Liverpool semi-finals

Three Irish boxers are in semi-final action today at the European Championships in Liverpool.

Middleweight Eamon O'Kane and light welterweight John Joe Joyce progressed from their last-eight bouts last night with points victories over Armenian and Bulgarian opponents.

They join Ross Hickey in the semi-finals following his quarter-final victory on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, two other Irish fighters - heavyweight Con Sheehan and featherweight David Oliver Joyce - also exited the championships last night after they lost their bouts.
