Joyce knocked out of European Boxing Championships

Irish featherweight David Oliver Joyce exited the European Senior Championships at the quarter final stage this afternoon after he was beaten 10-2 by Ukrainian Olympic champion Vasyl Lomachenko in Liverpool.

Irish featherweight David Oliver Joyce exited the European Senior Championships at the quarter final stage this afternoon after he was beaten 10-2 by Ukrainian Olympic champion Vasyl Lomachenko in Liverpool.

Lomachenko, a silver medallist at the 2007 World Championships in Chicago, who also claimed the boxer of the tournament award at the 29th Olympiad in Beijing, is now guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

Light welterweight John Joe Joyce, middleweight Eamon O'Kane and heavyweight Con Sheehan will be all be involved in quarter-final bouts tonight.
