World champion bows out after misunderstanding

In one of the most frenetic bouts of the tournament to date, 2005 world champion Oksung Lee of Korea repeated his semi-final win over American Rau'shee Warren.

Lee beat the current world champion 9-8 in a pulsating 51kg preliminary bout at the Olympic Games boxing competition in the Workers' Indoor Arena in Beijing today.

The two flyweight super stars couldn't be separated as they went punch for punch in a riveting bout which had the 10,000 crowd on the edge of their seats.

At 4-4 after the first round, the first of many chants for Korea started before USA rang out in return around the amphitheatre.

The second and third rounds were scored at 2-2 and 1-1 before Lee edged ahead in the final round.

Unbelievably, a miscommunication between Warren and his corner saw him start dancing with 10 seconds to go before the message finally got through that he was one down rather than one-up.
