Stephen Hendry was today battling to avoid a second first-round exit in three years from the 888.com World Championships in Sheffield.

Hendry trailed Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen 6-3 going into this afternoon’s play and needing to win seven of a possible 10 remaining frames to avoid another defeat to the talented former world amateur champion.
