Allen reaches quarter-finals of China Open

Mark Allen is the sole remaining Irishman in the China Open after beating Ali Carter to book a place in the quarter-finals yesterday.

Allen will now go on to face Mark Selby for a place in the last four of the competition.

Ken Doherty, meanwhile, was knocked out of the event yesterday by Welshman Ryan Day.
