Sutherland to face Degale in Olympic qualifiers

Irish middleweight Darren Sutherland will meet England's James Degale in the quarter-finals of the Olympic qualifiers tonight after beating Ramis Baylarov from Azerbaijan in Italy last night.

The last-eight clash will be a repeat of last June's EU Championships final at the National Stadium, which Sutherland won 23-19.

Light welterweight John Joe Joyce is also through to the quarter-finals following a 20-12 win over Moldovan Vasilii Belous.

However, flyweight Conor Ahern and featherweight David Oliver Joyce bowed out after losing their last16 bouts to Slovakian and English opponents.
