Latvala makes history with win

22-year old Jari-Mati Latvala has made rally history by becoming the youngest driver ever to win a World Championship event.

He led from the second stage, and came home 58.3 seconds ahead of his BP Ford Abu Dhabi team leader Mikko Hirvonen.

Gigi Galli finished third to make it a Ford 1-2-3 on the podium.

The previous youngest winner was the late Henri Toivonen, who won the 1980 RAC Rally in Britain at 24 years and 86 days - Latvala is 22 years and 313 days old.

Hirvonen now heads the drivers' championship, and Ford the manufacturers.
