Marion Jones admits drug use
Marion Jones, the American athletics star, is facing a prison sentence after admitting lying about not taking drugs.
The 31- year-old has revealed she used steroids before competing in the Sydney Olympics.
She won five medals at the games in 2000 - including three golds.
Jones has also announced her retirement - she wept as she spoke to reporters outside a court in New York.
"It is with a great amount of shame that I stand before you and tell you that I have betrayed your trust," Jones told reporters outside the court, addressing her fans and family.
"I want you to know that I have been dishonest and you have the right to be angry with me," she said, breaking down in tears. "I have let my country down and I have let myself down."
The head of the US Olympic Committee urged Jones to give back the medals she won at the Sydney Summer Olympics.
