Embattled McLaren boss Ron Dennis has confirmed it was his tip-off that resulted in the team being stripped of all constructors’ points and fined $100m.

It is the latest twist in the spy scandal, which by the end of the season is almost certain to result in Fernando Alonso’s departure from the team.
