Irish basketball team lose international friendly

Ireland continued their preparations for their European opener against Norway on Saturday with a 41 - 56 defeat to a powerful Portugal outfit at the National Basketball Arena tonight.

It was Ireland who opened the scoring through captain Michelle Fahy before Sofia Ramalho restored parity just seconds later. The opening quarter was a tight affair with just a basket separating the sides as they headed into the second quarter.
