Ralf happy with Toyota progress

Ralf Schumacher insists Toyota “are moving in the right direction” as he looks to build on his best performance of the season.

Schumacher had endured a miserable year prior to his last outing in the Hungarian Grand Prix when he qualified fifth and finished sixth.

After previously only taking two points all season, the German now has five to his name and is confident of scoring more during this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix at the Istanbul Park circuit.

“Hungary was a very strong weekend for me and the team, with my best qualifying and race results of the season,” said the 32-year -old.

“We looked really competitive and had a good result, so I am now looking forward to building on that performance in Turkey.

“We have shown over the last few races that we have become more competitive and we are moving in the right direction.

“Our car seems to be reasonably competitive on different kinds of circuits, so we are hopeful again for this weekend.”

Schumacher still lies two points behind team-mate Jarno Trulli, but Toyota at least have Red Bull Racing and Williams – who use the Japanese team’s engines - in their sights in the constructors’ championship.

“It was important for the team to score points in Hungary and now we will aim to do that again in Turkey,” added Schumacher.

“I enjoyed the summer break, but now I am ready to get back to racing.”
