Irish athlete Colin Quirke has qualified for the final of the shot put at the World Youth Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The Californian-based athlete had a mark of 19.33m in this morning’s qualifying pool, which is a new Irish youth record. This placed Quirke in sixth overall, qualifying him for tonight’s final against some of the best young athletes in the world.
