Team for European Junior Championships announced
Athletics Ireland have announced their team for the upcoming European Junior Championships in Holland.
The eight-strong team will compete at the Championships in Hengelo, Holland from 19-22 July.
Ferrybank A.C. can boast half of the Irish contingent including National Junior Long Jump Record Holder, Kelly Proper. Hurdlers Mairead Murphy, Jessie Barr and Kalyn Sheehan also represent the Waterford club.
Suzanne Huet, from the Dundrum South Dublin club, will take part in the 5,000m, while North Down AC sprinter Amy Foster is also named in the squad.
David McCarthy from the West Waterford club will represent Ireland in the 800 and 1500m with Tullamore Harriers clubman, Eoin Hannon competing in the Long Jump.
Peter Sinclair, Irish Junior team manager, is confident of his team’s chances in Holland; “We are looking forward to some excellent performances from this exciting young team. We have a number of Irish Junior record holders and this is the stage for them to show off their quality.”
