Irish rowers through to World Cup final

The Irish men's heavyweight four of Alan Martin, Sean Casey, Cormac Folan and Sean O'Neill are through to their final at the Rowing World Cup in Amsterdam.

Joining the heavy four in the A finals will be Derry's Orla Duddy in the non-Olympic lightweight single scull.

The women's lightweight double of Sinead Jennings and Niamh NiCheilleachair missed out on a place in their A final when they finished 5th in their semi-final.

After racing Irish team manager Mick O’Callaghan said: "We’re pleased with the progress of the heavy four. They’ve reached their first ‘A’ final this year in what is a really competitive class. Orla has also showed immense progress to make the A final again, and I think today was her best race to date. We are disappointed the double didn’t make it through as well but we’re looking to tomorrow for them and a better race with a finish towards the top of the field."
