Ireland’s Under-18 women will depart to Novi Sad in Serbia where they will participate in a three-day camp to gain valuable match practice ahead of their European Championship games in Romania.

Whilst at the camp Ireland will play two games against the Serbia National Team and the Novi Sad Allstars.

Jessica Scannell, who picked up an Under-18, Under-20 and SuperLeague National Cup medal back in January, will be one of four Glanmire players included in the squad, along with representatives from Waterford Wildcats and Meteors.

Assistance on the ground in Serbia provided by native Serbian and Ireland Senior Women’s Head Coach, Sasa Punosevac.

Meanwhile an Irish contingent will travel to Slovenia to take part in the inaugural International Basketball Camp for Under-15 Girls.

This new training camp is run by FIBA Europe and three Irish representatives have been selected by the International Affairs Committee to partake in the camp.

Coach Joe Shields will travel with Ciara Newell and Rebecca Nagle to Postojna for the duration of the camp.

The camp will run from June 25-30 and will provide valuable experience for these developing stars of the future as they are introduced to performance Basketball.

Ciara Newell is part of the Calasanctius College Oranmore Basketball dynasty while Rebecca Nagle is currently plying her trade with Meteors.
