Cricket: Essex beat Irish by seven wickets

Essex have beaten Ireland by seven wickets in cricket's Friends Provident Trophy at Castle Avenue in Clontarf.

The Irish finished on 227 for five off their 50 overs, with Will Porterfield top-scoring on 88.

But the visitors reached their target of 228 having lost just three wickets.
