Raikkonen on top in testing
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was back on top in testing today as David Coulthard finally gave his Red Bull team reason to cheer.
On the second of three days of testing at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia ahead of next weekend’s grand prix at the venue, Finn Raikkonen clocked an impressive one minute 35.258 seconds.
The Australian Grand Prix winner’s unofficial time was almost half a second quicker than Alexander Wurz in the Williams, another of the surprise front-runners.
Veteran Coulthard was third-fastest ahead of Ralf Schumacher in a Toyota and yesterday’s quickest driver in Robert Kubica for BMW.
On his first outing at the track, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton was more than a second down on Raikkonen after completing 65 laps.
There was still no joy for Jenson Button in the Honda as he finished 10th of the 13 drivers on show, with Anthony Davidson 11th for Super Aguri.
