Andrew Flintoff’s participation in England’s opening training session in Guyana was restricted by a stomach bug today.
The Lancashire all-rounder was due to have an intensive practice session with the rest of the England squad in the build-up to Friday’s opening match of the Super Eight stage against Ireland.
But Flintoff was forced to withdraw from practice after batting in the nets and, after lying down in the shade for a short while, returned to the nearby hotel.
Flintoff has already missed one match of England’s World Cup campaign after being dropped for their second match against Canada for his role in the late-night drinking episode.
England remain confident their talismanic all-rounder will be fit for Friday’s encounter, however, with the rest of the squad coming through the session unscathed.
