Ireland faltering as rain stops play
Ireland were struggling on 161 for six against the West Indies when rain stopped play with 4.4 overs of their innings remaining in their final World Cup group match at Sabina Park, Kingston.
Opener Jeremy Bray (41) and Middlesex batsman Eoin Morgan (18) had shared a 58-run second-wicket partnership which laid a solid early platform.
But after that the West Indies bowlers took a vice-like grip on the game, with Daren Powell and Chris Gayle claiming two wickets apiece at less than three an over.
Gayle finished with two for 23 and only conceded singles during his 10-over spell.
Andre Botha made 28 from 56 deliveries, including one six, before falling to Gayle as he tried to break the shackles.
When the rains came, Andrew White was 17 not out and stand-in captain Kyle McCallan was unbeaten on 10 as Ireland looked to see out the 50 overs.
