Taylor chalks up another win

World lightweight champion Katie Taylor chalked up her third victory of 2007 following a comprehensive victory over German national champ Yana Kultysheva in Cork last night.

The European title holder for the last two years was ahead 8-1 at the end of round one, and 13-4 at the end of round two, before being handed a 23-6 over the Russian born Berlin based puncher at the end of the third and final round.

Taylor, who was a guest of the Fermoy Boxing Club at the Presentation College, will meet English champion Amanda Coulson in a light welterweight contest at the Dungarvan Sports Complex on March 2.

Speaking after the fight with Kultysheva, Taylor's coach and dad Peter said that they were pleased with last nights win.

He said: "Katie opened up a good lead after the first two rounds and we are very delighted with the win. This contest was ideal preparation for her upcoming meeting with Coulson in Waterford."

The Taylor/Kultysheva bout was one of thirteen fights on the card in Fermoy.
