Clijsters made to fight for title win

Kim Clijsters enjoyed the perfect end to her preparations for next week’s Australian Open with victory over Jelena Jankovic in the final of the Medibank International on Friday.

The third-seeded Belgian overcame a shaky start against her Serbian opponent to record a 4-6 7-6 (7/1) 6-4 result in Sydney.

The win marked Clijster’s 34th singles trophy on the WTA Tour, while Jankovic had claimed her second career title last weekend with victory in Auckland.
