Calzaghe working on exit strategy

Joe Calzaghe has set himself a target of two more years to confirm his status as the finest fighter of his generation.

Calzaghe insists he will quit his sport at the age of 36, having convinced all his remaining critics of his right to superstardom.

The 34-year-old Welshman returns to the ring on Saturday when he puts his WBO and IBF super-middleweight titles on the line against Sakio Bika.

Calzaghe said: “I want to fight until I cannot fight any more but it is a rare breed of fighter who actually gets out on top.

“I think that is a realistic goal for me. I would like to fight another four or five fights but not beyond the age of 36.

“I fight now because I am the best and I enjoy being champion. If I am not the best any more then maybe I will not want to fight.”
