Honda gamble goes up in smoke

Honda’s gamble on a new engine for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix went up in smoke with an embarrassing double failure at Monza today.

With a freeze on engine development looming, Honda hoped to steal a march on the opposition by rushing in their 2007 power plant early.
