A team of 26 Irish athletes have landed in Hungary ahead of the Fourth European Transplant and Dialysis Games.

Four of the Irish team members are undergoing dialysis, while the remainder have already had successful transplants of the heart, kidney and liver.

The captain of the Irish team, 52-year-old Michael Dwyer from Dublin, said preparing for the games helps boost fitness for people with transplants.

Athletes from 20 EU countries are competing in the Games.
